Welcome to The Urban Music Seminar (UMS) was formed in 1998 as a free event with a goal to inform and educate young people with aspirations of working in the music industry. Celebrities and top music industry executives, who make up a series of interactive guest panels, provide advice.

The event itself incorporates the urban lifestyle exhibition, a series of master classes, live unsigned sound stage and main auditorium panels seating up to 4000 people. We also distribute the UMS Magazine, which is a comprehensive guide to the record business containing listings, features and contacts and much much more.

UMS is a free event, which is open and accessible to all. The seminar takes place over a weekend at the Royal Festival Hall in London and attracted 13,000 visitors at the last count. We also hold Urban Music Seminars in Birmingham and Manchester and audience figures of 2000+

Our audience are our priority and with our unique and extensive registration service we are able to closely monitor their feedback and development and set the events remit accordingly. The average delegate will leave UMS with some solid legal and accounting advice, contacts and techniques to help them with promotion and marketing and ways how to develop their careers apply for various music related courses as well as having exposure to employment opportunities. and inspirational speakers

From modest beginnings at Sound in Leicester Square in 1998, attracting an audience of 500 people to a weekend at the Royal Festival Hall and various events nationwide attracting in excess of 20,000 live visitors. UMS is proud to support the present whilst helping to develop the future of the Urban music industry. Without doubt a necessity for the UK , the seminar continues to expand and attract high profile speakers from all aspects of the business that would be considered inaccessible to the everyday person. UMS is the only free event of its kind and has now become the largest in Europe .
